Beach Resolutions for 2023

The start of a new year is a time of hope and renewal, and it’s natural to feel excited about the possibilities that the year ahead may bring. A new year is a fresh start and an opportunity to set new goals and make positive changes in your life. As well as the anticipation for the new beach season, warm weather and the happiness it brings everyone on our beloved Emerald Coast. We’ve compiled a list to help you see and do new things this year!
Soak Up Some Vitamin D

Destin to 30 has many outdoor activities to get your heart rate up and see beautiful scenery. Which is always on the top of everyones New Years Resolutions. You can walk or bike your way through nature on the Watersound Trail, accessed at Village Commons in Watersound Origins. The five-mile trail winds through a slash pine plantation, along which you’re sure to see cypress domes, wetland areas and plenty of wildlife evidence. The trail is flat and paved, with hard ground and some sandy, hilly regions; it’s marked and open from sunrise to sunset for ultimate enjoyment. If you’re looking for a place to stay while exploring Watersound Origins, the WaterColor Inn and The Pearl Hotel offer complimentary bike rentals. In Destin, biking Old-98 is always an enjoyable thing to do; stop at Camilles Cafe to get a freshly squeezed juice to keep you hydrated

Try Something You've Never Done Before

Destin is known as the Luckiest fishing village, which is just what it is. Charter a fishing boat, like the boat “The Misa”, a premier deep-sea fishing charter with a captain who knows the waters with his eyes closed. With their flexibility in trips, you can go out and catch fish for an hour and then come back, or for the more adventurous, they offer offshore marlin fishing!

Grab a paddle board (SUP) and slow the day. Renting a kayak or standup paddleboard from the WaterColor BoatHouse and exploring one of South Walton’s coastal dune lakes, Western Lake (the largest and perhaps most popular). Aside from being a lot of fun, kayaking and paddle boarding around these lakes are low-impact and great for all ages – perfect for getting a unique look at WaterColor’s natural beauty. Guided kayaking adventures around Western Lake are also available and provide an excellent opportunity to learn about these rare coastal dunes. Seasonal rentals are available from the BoatHouse for guests of all St. Joe Resort properties, so you can enjoy these activities anytime you want.

fresh Gulf to Table® seafood

Everything is in moderation – until it consults to a worthy meal, right? We think the Gulf of Mexico’s seafood is the finest, and – if you don’t already – soon you’ll too!

If you love feasting on fresh seafood this is the best place to do so, if you charter “The Misa” what ever you catch you can bring it up to Harbor Docks which is a known staple for the best seafood in Destin and they will cook it for you, thats the freshest fish you can get!

The Gulf Coast is bountiful and known for its mouth-watering seafood.

From the Featured Fish of the Day at Fish Out of Water and the Jumbo Lump Crab desserts Gulf Shrimp Fritters at Havana Beach Bar & Grill to the Baja Fish Tacos at Costa Chica and Ceviche (with a tropical trace of mango) at WaterColor Grill. So many others to try, healthy and unique, two things you rarely have in a food description.
